With the shuffler display facing you:

  1. Remove Left Side Cover

  2. The Micro SD Card Slot is located on the Main PCB to the right of the Fan.

  3. Insert the Micro SD Card with the connectors facing up.

  4. The Card should snap into place.

 With the shuffler powered on:

  1. From the Main Menu, Select the Gear Icon to Enter the User Menu.

  2. In the User Menu Select the Maintenance Button.

  3. Enter the Password and Select the Enter Button.

  5. From the Utilities Menu Select the Base Machine Settings Button.

  6. Enter the Time Zone, Time and Date and Select the Set Date and Time Button.

Add Deck

It is necessary to add a new deck to the Shuffler in order for the system to properly recognize the specific cards in use.

  4. In the Maintenance Menu Select the Deck Setup Button.

  5. From the Deck Setup Menu Select the Add New Deck button.

It is best practice to use the card manufactures description for the deck name. For Example: Bee Jumbo where the manufacturer is Bee, and the deck type is Jumbo.

Note: The deck of cards will be processed through the shuffler in a specific order. Fist in one direction and then rotated 180° processed again.

Start with a deck of cards in order from bottom to top: Ace-King of Spades, Ace-King Diamonds, King-Ace of Clubs, King-Ace of Hearts, and finally the two jokers on the top.

When Prompted to Add New Deck, Place the Deck in the Infeed Tray.

The Shuffler will input the Deck.

Select Accept to accept the shuffle.

Remove the Deck from the Outfeed Tray, Rotate the Deck and Place the Deck back in the Infeed Tray.

Select Accept to accept the 2nd shuffle

Once the Deck Operation Successful message appears, Navigate Back to the User Menu.

Select the Current Deck button.

Find the New Deck in the list, Select it and Select Done.

Navigate back to the Deck Setup menu.

Select Maintenance > Maintenance Password > Deck Setup > Delete Deck

Select the Deck to be Deleted and Select the Delete Selection(s) button.

Select the Return button and repeat if necessary.

Delete all decks not used at the location.

Note: The active deck will not show on the list of decks to delete.

Game Setup

DO NOT skip reading this note: You must have one game selected before exiting the menu. If you do not have a game selected and you exit, it will brick the SSD on the motherboard. Do not ask how we figured this out….

Most Stud poker games played in a casino are listed in the Games Selection menu. The user menu can be configured to show only the games at the casino where Pax is installed. A check box next to each game in the game selection menu will show if the game is to appear in the user menu.

Select Gear Icon > Maintenance > Maintenance Password > Game Setup > Edit Game

  1. Select the Game to be Configured.

    1. To configure select Game Setup in the Maintenance Menu and edit each game. Select yes or no to display the game in the user menu.

  2. Enable (default) or Disable the Dealer Cover Card / Green Button Press Options.

Note: Pax can be configured to hold the first packet of cards or automatically eject the first packet into the outfeed tray. Select enable Dealer Cover Card/Green Button Press to require a green button is press or a cut card placed on the outfeed tray to eject the first packet of cards. Select disable Dealer Cover Card/Green Button Press to automatically eject the first packet of cards after the cards have been shuffled.

Test Run

After setup is complete 10 test shuffles with a deck of cards in use at the location should be performed.

Adjustments

Insert Offset

Remove right side cover.

Select Shuttle Insert Offset. Press the return key with the current value.

For reference 300 points equals 1 card thickness and 150 points half a card thickness. A higher number will lower the shuttle position.

Adjust until alignment marks on side plate and shuttle line up.

Break Roll Setting

The gap between the two aluminum brake rollers should be approximately 1 ½ card thicknesses. This gap is set at the factory and should not need to be reset during installation.

Warning: Power Down and Unplug the Pax S Shuffler before swapping the Buttons. Failure to do so may result in Damage to the unit, Shock or Electrocution

  1. Remove the Right Side Cover

  2. Remove the Infeed Tray

Use a Hex Driver to loosen the Screws attaching the Top Roller Shaft.

  1. Slide the .015mm Pink Shim (Included) between the two Black Brake Rollers.

  2. Push down firmly (about 5 to 10 pounds of pressure) and evenly on the top roller and tighten the 2 Hex Screws.

  3. Be Sure the Gap is even across both sets of rollers.

  4. Replace the Infeed Tray and Right Side Cover.

Table Mounting

Full table Cut

  • Bracket to join back bar on table ring

    • Most tables have the back bar attached to the padded ring not to the table top

  • Template to cut table with router and router guide

    • ½ straight router bit and ¾ OD template guide

Partial Table Cut

  • Metal frame same size opening as full cut

    • Allows Pax to mount in an opening cut into the table but not as deep.

    • Attaches to table top

    • Same part for RH and LH

  • Bracket to join table ring

    • Same part use for a full cut install

  • Template to cut table with router

    • Account for extra width of metal frame

Off Table

Mount shuffler behind the table with no modifications to table or table ring

  • Wood block with opening for shuffler mounted on metal bracket.

    • 1 ½ thick wood

  • ¼ inch spacers between table and bracket to account for thicker tables

  • Support leg to prevent table from tipping

    • Account for high and low tables

  • Right and left hand versions

Tech Bulletins

PAX-S Shuttle Position Tech Bulletin

There is an issue when forming the community cards in the Pax S Shuffler. The errors will be aborting the shuffle or leaving one or more cards in the infeed while showing incorrect deck composition. This issue will be isolated to games with community cards and using paper cards.

An adjustment will be made to the gap in the card guides at the exit rollers. The shuttle insert calibration will need to set the shuttle at a higher position. All shufflers at the location should be updated so Pax can be moved to any game.

Setup and Adjustments

Use a clamp to hold the shuttle at the top when tightening the belt clamp and adjusting the card guides. Before making adjustments make sure the screws for the shuttle belt clamp are tight.

Use the white plastic .025” shim to set the clearance.

Loosen these four screws.

Hold the top and bottom card guides together while keeping the shim centered in the calibration mark. Tighten the 4 screws.

Repeat the adjustment for the guide blocks on the other side.
In the Calibrate Shuttle screen line up the insert marks as shown.

Serial number S200106 and above Subtract 600 from the insert calibration and enter the new value. The calibration marks will look like this. A lower value will raise the shuttle position.

Serial numbers below S200106 subtract 400 from the insert calibration and enter the new value.

Pax Shufflers that had previously been working well subtract 200 from the insert calibration and enter the new value.

Starting with serial number S200147 the card guide and the insert calibration adjustments will be made in production.
