Table Fan Installation

When a Table Controller (PC) is in a Barrel type Black Jack table it gets very little circulation and can overheat, especially the video card.

 Instructions:

To help this situation:

  1. Make sure nothing is near the right or left side of the PC. This is where the air intake is located on the PC.

  2. Speed up the fan to the High-Speed setting. This is done in the BIOS settings.

    1. Go into the BIOS by power cycling the controller and holding the DELETE key down.

    2. When BIOS shows on the display, press right cursor once, then down cursor until you’re at HW Monitor line.

    3. Hit Enter to open fan speed window.

    4. Select High Speed.

    5. Hit F4 then Enter to save the setting.

  3. Install some fans on the face of the cabinet to remove the heat inside the cabinet.

    1. The part number for the fan kit is: KIT-80023

Tools required:

3” holes saw

Arbor with pilot drill and 7/16” hex shank

3/16” Drill bit

11/32” wrench or nut driver

#2 Philips screwdriver

Picking a location for the fans:

These barrel tables are different at each location. We’d like to place the fans high in the cabinet where the table controller is located. Two style of tables is shown here with suggested fan locations. The cooling is best when both fans are blowing out. Make sure there are pathways for cool air to get into the cabinet. There is usually an air chamber on the sides of the cabinet where air can come up from the floor and enter the cabinet. Sometimes there is a large hole in the back at the top of the cabinet. If there are no good ways for cool air to enter the cabinet, then it’s best if one fan blows in and one fan blows out.

Installing the Fans:

This is how the fans come in the box as shown below.

You can toss everything but the fans and the tie wrap and sticker in the bag.

The eight rubber feet on each fan need to be removed and tossed.

This requires a Philips #2 screwdriver.

Here are the fans ready to be installed:

When mounting in the door, the easiest place to install the fans are on the door in front of the Table Controller PC.

It’s best to keep the fans near the hinge to minimize trouble with the wires.

Mark the spots for the center of the fans and use  a 3” hole saw to cut the two holes for the fans. Cut the holes from the front of the door to minimize damage to the face of the door.

Once both 3” holes are drilled, Place the fan over the hole and center it. Using the fan as a guide, drill two 3/16” holes though opposite mounting holes in the fans. I used a screw placed in the first hole to use it to hold the fan while I was drilling the second hole.

Once the four holes are drilled through, place the fans on the back of the wall or door with the lettering on the fan facing out.

Push a screw through an all black finger guard, then the door, then the fan, and finally thought the finger guard with AC INFINITY on it. Then start a lock nut on the screw.

Do this with the other screw on this fan.

Do this with the other fan.

Use a 11/32 box end or socket wrench to tighten it only snugly.

After installing the door, plug the USB cable into a USB port on the Table Controller.

Set the speed on the fan speed controller to H for HIGH.

You can use the tie wrap and sticky mount to tie the wires out of the way.

Make sure both fans are blowing air out from the cabinet when the  doors are closed.
