NCFI Tool
Introduction
The NCFI, Non-Controlled Firmware Installer, is a tool used to update the firmware on a cabinet while in the field. It is a simple and effective tool to use.
Class 3 games are setup to run the NCFI tool but you may need to remove the SATA cable from the SSD if it doesn’t run as expected.
Class 2 games will require the System CF SATA cable to be connected to the Top Left port on the 2015 logic box.
Compact Flash / Startup
To access the NCFI tool, Insert the NCFI CF into the System CF slot on the logic box and power the cabinet on.
NCFI Menu
The NCFI Menu displays 4 columns of informaiton with a the last column used to select the update.
The menu also shows the Cabinet Type and Version as well as Status Message.
The Columns Shown are:
Device - Displays the Device or components of the Firmware Manages.
Current Firmware - Shows the Current Version of the Firmware installed.
Available Firmware - Shows available Versions to which the Firmware can be updated.
Time Estimated - Displays the Estimated Time to Update the Firmware.
Update - Check Boxes to Select an Application for Update.
Any firmware that is Up to Date will Display Green. If the Firmware is Out of Date, it will display in Yellow.
Tap the Check Box to Select the Firmware to be Updated.
Note: More than one Selection can be made to update multiple applications at once.
Once the Firmware Applications have been Selected, Tap the Update Selected button to continue.
The Status Message will change showing the Selected Application(s) Updating.
Once the Update(s) completes, the Status Message will show Done Updating and the Firmware Version will reflect the Update.
Update Complete
The Menu should now show all the Firmware Up to Date and the screen will say to reboot the cabinet:
Shut the cabinet off.
Remove the NCFI CF.
Re-install the System CF.
Power back on.
