AGS Field Service Knowledge Base

Progressive Controller Field Service Manual

The controller software version needs to be equal to or greater than the game OS version. 20.1 will only work with games running 18.X and above.

Either upgrade the controller first or disconnect it from the network so it cannot communicate with the games. If the games are powered on with the new anoftware and the controller has not been updated, there will be info sent to the controller it is NOT setup handle, causing it to crash the database.

Hardware

Both controllers will beep at boot to let you know the controller will give you video. If the controller doesn't beep at boot you will need to re-seat the RAM stick and try again.

Grill Controller with 12vdc power supply (only)

The grill controller gets its name because it looks like a George Foreman Grill. The network cable gets plugged into the port labeled GM. The power button on the controller puts the PC to sleep when quickly pressed one time . Do not pull the power cord or hold the power button to power cycle the controller. Always reboot through the start menu.

Brick Controller with 19vdc or 12vdc Power Supply

To update a Brick controller, it must have a sticker on the bottom en updated with a second hard drive and more RAM (4 Gigs). The network cable gets plugged into the port labeled Game. This controller will peep at boot to let you know it is going to work.

Lock Box

Both units share an optional lock box (required in some jurisdictions).

Network Switch

The controllers and games need to connect using a Gigabit 100base/1,000 network switch. Using a 10base/100 switch will cause the network to drop data packets when loading the games and connectivity errors (1023).

Network Connections

The Progressive Controller has a static IP address of 10.0.8.1 with subnet 255.255.252.0. The slot machines will connect to the controller via a Gigabit switch. The progressive controller assigns each game an IP address based on the MAC address.

Your laptop’s ethernet port will need to be set to DHCP when connecting go the controller. Most likely your laptop is already set to DHCP unless you have recently connected it to one of our Table Games.

Logging Into the Controller

The password for the Progressive Controller resets every 24 hours. To gain access to the controller follow the next steps with a laptop connected to the network switch or directly to the controller GM port.

  1. From the start menu search for and run Remote Desktop Connection.

  2. The computer to connect to is 10.0.8.1

  3. After the Windows Security window opens select More Choices then Use a different account to change the username and password.

    1. User: fsrdr

    2. Password: 4Us2GetIn

  4. If a security certificate message pops up, select OK or Trust to continue.

  5. Once the remote desktop is connected you will be presented with the AGO Trapdoor image. Take a picture or snip of this information and close out the remote session by selecting OK on the Trapdoor.

  6. With the Trapdoor info available, open any web browser and navigate to: https://boxlocker.playags.net   The username is the first part of your email and the password is your normal AGS email password.

  7. Type the AGO Trapdoor info into the Boxlocker website and obtain the password of the day.

  8. The Boxlocker Utility will give you the password of the day.  It is important to copy this password and paste it somewhere.  As seen in the pic below, the password has been copied to the search bar of the browser.  You need to do this because the webpage will timeout and refresh causing you to restart the process.

  9. Open the Remote Desktop Connection from the Start Menu and reconnect to 10.0.8.1

  10. After the Windows Security window opens select More Choices then Use a different account to change the username and password.

    1. User: fsadmin

    2. Password: Paste from the boxlocker website.

  11. When Successful, you will see the Progressive Controller’s Desktop

TechAssist

TechAssist is used to uninstall the old game server software, install the new game server, install all LCI kits and data patches.  TechAssist silently installs all the software in the background.  You need to verify TechAssist has been installed on your controller to upgrade its software.

Verify TechAssist is installed

From the Start menu on the controller, search for and open “My Computer” or “This PC” open the (C:) drive. Scroll to the bottom and look for Techinstaller2.0 or 3.0.  If TechInstaller is not listed, you will need to install the program.

TechAssist is updated by the Sales Order usb when the server software is installed. To verify the version of TechAssist you will need to check the properties of the TechAssitSilentInstall.dll file. Notice the Product Version below says 4.0.

Techassit 4.1 will need to be manually installed. It does not automatically update like prior versions. To install, run the application from the usb stick and follow the on screen prompts. No need to uninstall the old version first.

Game Server Installation using TechAssist

https://youtu.be/40iYlYj8il0
  1. If you plug the USB with the install files into your laptop you should see up to three folders and a txt

file. Do not add any additional files to the USB, it will cause the install to fail. It may have less folders but not more.

  2. Plug the Sales Order USB, containing the TechAssist folders and instructions, into one of the USB ports on the controller.  The process will automatically start.

  3. When the process starts the BD-ROM Drive will show the GameServer Version being installed. On the desktop you will see the old software being uninstalled, the icons will disappear then reappear

  4. TechAssist will finish installing the game server software and move on to install the LCI Kits.

  5. When the process is done the USB will be automatically ejected and its name will change to “Removable Disk” or it will disappear from the screen depending on the controller.

  6. With the server software installed the games need to be setup to talk to the server.  If game setup is already completed, reboot the cabinet through the game’s control menu to send the game’s config to the server.

Configure Progressive Pools

There are three ways to configure progressive pools

  • Auto configure through the game menu see image below. Preferred method!

  • Auto configure through Quickconfig.

  • Manually configure the pools through progressive manager.

Peer Review Progressive Controller

Read the full policy in the PDF link below.

AGS Field Service Technicians are required to perform a peer review of the progressive pools after the controller has been setup/modified and before completing the sales order or service order. Only one of each title needs to be setup on the controller before requesting the review.

The controller should be setup per the par sheet. Any deviation from the Par Sheet requires supporting documentation from the casino to be attached to the service order in Alliance. Below are the steps to be followed to complete the review:

  1. Once setup is complete, attach a screen shot of the progressive screen and supporting documents to the open work order. Use a screen shot from the controller’s Progressive Manager and Quickconfig.

LCI Kit Installation

Any game compiled after 11/19/2020 will have the LCIKit included in the game theme software.  The first six digits in the Game SSV version are a date code.

  • Game SSD V0220191928 – This date code is 02/20/2019.  This game will require an external LCI Kit.

  • Game SSD V0407211427– This date code is 04/07/2021.  This game will have the LCIKit included in the game theme software.

Tech Assist

LCI game kits are automatically installed just like the game server software. After TechAssist installs the game server it will unmount the game server and mount the LCI kits one at a time.  When the kits are finished installing the program will unmount the TechAssist USB.

Manual Install

Manual install of the game kits is possible but required the use of CJCript and a unique password which you don’t have and will not get, so put in an activity with TAC to assist with the install.

Auto Load from SSD

Some LCI kits install from the game’s SSD. This means you will not receive the LCI kit on the USB with the rest of the software.

 Here is how it works:

  • Install the progressive controller software and make sure services are running.

  • Install the game software and go through the normal setup, setting the game to external and reboot before selecting commit.

  • At some point the LC will show up in package manager, it may say Game Provided in the Kit Type.  If it doesn’t, reboot the progressive controller then the game.

  • With the LC in package manager, and the game in Quickconfig, commit the setting on the game setup.

  • Go into Progressive menu on the game and auto configure.

Customer Education

Videos: This link will redirect to a series of youtube videos customers can use to further educate themselves on the progressive controller.

Boxlocker Customer Access Setup

BoxLocker Website

Boxlocker has features that allow customers to both register for accounts and manage accounts within their organization. These features can be seen by selecting the “Customer” account type on the login page.

Clicking register takes users to the Account Registration page where they can enter their information in addition to their organization’s information. After submitting this information, a member of AGS support will review the registration and create the new user as needed.

The “Forgot password” link allows anyone with an existing account to reset their password.

Authorization

Boxlocker now has two levels of authorization: Users and Managers.

Users have the following permissions:

  • Can use the trapdoor application to unlock the password of the day

  • Can update their own info using the “Settings” tab (first/last name, email address, change password).

Managers have the following permissions

  • Can use the trapdoor application to unlock the password of the day

  • Can update their own user settings (first/last name, email address, change password).

  • Can create, delete, or lock/unlock other users accounts within their own organization

  • Can create other managers, or assign/un-assign managers within their organization

  • Can reset passwords for other users

Managers

Any user given permission to manage their organization has access to the “Manage Logins” tab. All of the functionality for viewing user information, or creating, locking/unlocking, or deleting users can be found here.

  • A search box is included on this page to make locating logins easier in the event the organization has a large number of users.

  • Users can be locked/unlocked by clicking the checkmark or X icon in the “Active” column
