3M Touchscreen firmware upgrade

This firmware upgrade is necessary to get the Icon monitor to support a Service Window type of back-end system.


New Icon monitors are not compatible DM systems. C55-00084 and C55-00083

The new icon monitor is NOT certified for DM or IGT UGA. Check the known issues page in the slot section.

FYI C055553-U and C055554-U are the original TFT Icon Touch and Non Touch monitors.  C55-00084 and C55-00083 are the NEW Keetouch Icon Touch and Non Touch

I just opened one of the new TFT C055553 monitors up and they are not the same touch components as the original TFT Icon monitors.

This is what the site is currently running for the TFT (new touch) monitors for about two months. No issues have been reported.

I know when the site first starting doing the DM update, they were using a thumb drive at each game. That method did not work because they did not have the correct type of file. I don’t know if the update appeared to take or gave an error.

The site then started doing the updates from the SDS/back of house system. That is when the new touch monitors starting working.

The site now has the correct files on a thumb drive and are performing the upgrades at the game level as monitors are being changed out.


Update steps

Unzip the file to your local drive, password is ‘ags’.  Go to the folder where you unzipped.

Plug your laptop’s USB cable into the USB port on the monitor – allow the touchscreen driver to enumerate / load driver - then run the file “COMTEST.exe”

The version information pops up quick so if you want to view it click the “Port” tab then “Find Controller”

To program the firmware, click the “Tools” tab then “PX” -> “Firmware Loader”:

 

For the new firmware select “New_F8A0_Custom_24U_10T.bin”

 

 

 

Then click on the “Send File to Controller” to program the controller.  NOTE: The first time you do this you might get a message because the device wasn’t found or ready, that I found was because the bootloader driver was being loaded.  Wait several seconds for that to complete and then clear any dialog boxes that may have popped up.

 

When complete check the version:

 

 

To restore the original firmware repeat the previous steps except for the firmware file, use “Orig_EA3C_System_24U_MM_B Rev 105.bin”.
